I use this book with several residents. It is an excellent way to assist with memory recall during therapy. The majority of my session would be on orientation and memory tasks. The book is tied into these activities and staff and family are educated on how to use the book. For individuals who are unable to write, family is educated to write entries for their loved ones. Families love this book because they have a running log of who came to visit and when.

If my mom cannot remember things from one minute to the next, how will this book help?
My experience with this book has been very successful. If your loved one cannot remember the date or his or her own children or grandchildren’s names, this book assists them with being able to locate the information without feeling frustrated. For some individuals, new learning takes place as they are encouraged by you on a regular basis to look in the book to determine the current date or if anyone was in to visit etc. They may begin looking in the book independently for information when asked. This all depends on the severity of the memory impairment.
